Identify the bedding
What needs to leave with your old mattress?
A mattress and its support pieces can make one bed several removal items. Count them separately so nothing gets missed in the quote.
1
The mattress itself
Tell us its size and type, such as foam or spring. A thick or heavy mattress may handle differently from a small, light one.
2
Box springs and foundations
Include every support piece beneath the mattress. A split base has two pieces; a mattress photo alone may not show them.
3
Condition that needs review
Report dampness, strong odors, visible mold or signs of pests before booking. These conditions need review; ordinary mattress pickup is not pest treatment or contamination cleanup.
4
The way out
Say whether the bed is upstairs, behind a tight turn or reached by elevator. We need a safe carry route, not just a room number.

Agree on the pickup
Plan the mattress removal before moving it
You do not have to drag the mattress to the curb for our full-service pickup. We lift and load from the agreed location when access is safe. Leave a heavy or awkward item where it is while we review the route.
The quote depends on the number and size of pieces, their condition, the carry distance and any stairs or building restrictions. Adding a bed frame or other furniture changes the list. General pricing guidance covers broader cost questions; there is no single price for every bed.
Details to have ready

Useful photos go beyond the mattress
Send a full view of the mattress, each base piece and anything else you want removed. Include the doorway or stairs if they look tight. A picture of the bed alone cannot show every access issue, and a photo estimate is preliminary.
For an apartment or condo, check whether management requires an elevator reservation or a loading window. Tell us those arrangements before choosing a pickup time. The same applies to gates and restricted parking; do not assume a crew can use a passenger elevator or stop at the entrance.
Keep the pickup list clear
Before loading, we confirm which pieces are going and the final price with you. If the list or access changes, pause to agree on the change. We remove the agreed items and give accessible work areas a basic sweep, not deep cleaning or room restoration.

From the first call to the cleared space
We agree on the items, access and price before loading. Here’s how we work through a pickup or cleanout.

Illustration of a discussion about items to remove.
1
Step 1
Tell us what needs to go
Describe the items and where they are. Photos help show the amount and condition; mention stairs, parking or a building access window.
2
Step 2
Confirm the scope and price
We review the items and access, then confirm the work and final price with you before loading. A photo estimate is preliminary.
3
Step 3
Let us lift and load
We remove the agreed items from the agreed location with safe access. Keep belongings outside the removal scope clearly separate.
4
Step 4
Check the cleared area
We finish with a basic sweep of accessible work areas. Review the space with us; deep cleaning, repairs and restoration are not part of that finish.
Separate keep from remove
Keep the new bed out of the removal scope
A replacement mattress may arrive before the old one leaves. Point out which bedding stays, and keep your linens and personal belongings separate from the pickup items.
If the frame, headboard or nearby furniture is also going, include it in the list. Furniture removal covers those items; a mattress pickup should not become an unplanned room cleanout.

Mattress pickup questions
A few decisions are worth settling before the old bed leaves your home.
You may have an eligible curbside alternative. Tampa SWEEP serves active City residential solid-waste accounts at single-family homes and properties with four units or fewer; mattresses are listed among accepted items, subject to City rules. New Tampa receives County service and is excluded. Check the address-specific schedule and set-out instructions in the City SWEEP guidance. This is curbside collection, not indoor removal.
Ask us before buying a cover or moving the mattress. Any preparation depends on its condition and receiving requirements; a cover does not make a contaminated item eligible. Do not cut it open or disturb suspected mold or pests to prepare for pickup.
Neither outcome is guaranteed. Condition and the receiving organization’s rules determine whether donation or recycling is possible. Used bedding may not qualify. We do not promise a donation receipt or a particular disposal destination; ask about the options for your item.
List it separately for review rather than counting it as a box spring. Describe its size, powered parts and assembled condition. We need to confirm safe handling, access and the scope before including it; do not assume mattress pickup includes base dismantling or electrical work.
Check your retailer’s order terms. Delivery and old-bed take-back are different services, and any take-back may have condition or preparation rules. If your order does not cover removal, tell us when the old bed will be available; we cannot promise to match an unconfirmed delivery window.
